Letter from our beloved travelling salesman on Curious Creatures Beer Corp and our upcoming adventures.

Greetings from the warm comforts of my fine bed!

I’ve returned from my travels, my jaunt to America being most successful. Myself and my team went for a quick trip to the Craft Brewers Conference in Las Vegas. There were many sights to see, vendors to speak to, and talks to attend.

As far as cities go, Vegas is quite enigmatic. As I have spent most of my life living in my quaint little town surrounded by lush forests and winding rivers, Las Vegas was quite the departure from that norm. In all my travels I have never come to such a place that was so awake and so loud at all hours of the day.

My pale comrades had to lather themselves constantly in sunscreen to make sure they didn’t cook in the Vegas sun. I personally found the heat quite delicious, but Tatiana claims that this was an “obvious fact”, what with me being a “cold blooded amphibian.” Sebastian, my intrepid brewer, was the only other person who truly appreciated that desert heat. Clearly he and I are on the same wavelength— just another one of the many reasons why I have entrusted him to produce such fine beverages in my name.

Tragically, my poor froggy legs were quite inept at making my way around the town. They really don’t build street infrastructure with pedestrians in mind, let alone frogs. The Las Vegas strip was difficult for my small form to navigate, and I frequently had to rely on the pity of my humanoid compatriots to carry me about the many casinos and roads. Why, even my poor team struggled navigating it all! It was fortunate that I was there with them to help decode their maps and reassure them that we were in fact going in the correct direction. What they would do without me, I do not know.

I was introduced to many a friendly-face on the conference floor, and people were most welcoming to myself and my team. There were many questions to be had about my new and burgeoning company, and I was delighted to indulge them with all the fascinating details. In fact, I’ll share with all of you a few of my most commonly asked questions:

How long have we been a brewery?

Why, only since this past August when my rather odd brother Thelonious graced us with his presence on our very first can of beer, Monch.

Have you seen Vegas Minnie Mouse?

Yes, yes we have. In fact we found Vegas Minnie Mouse sitting outside a Panda Express on the Las Vegas Strip smoking a cigarette, which as far as commitment to roles go, was rather incredible.

Have you gambled at all while in Vegas?

Unfortunately, my little frog arms are generally too short for most forms of gambling. I lack the thumbs required for something as dexterous as a card game, and I have been informed by my resident designer Brigitta that, due to my inability to not frown, I would be fairly horrible at poker. My good fellow salesman Sean did attempt to use a slot machine, and thereupon immediately lost more money than he deemed reasonable. Consequently, we vowed that such enterprises were not for us.

Where are you located?

Currently, we do not have our own location. As an expanding company we decided it was best for us to save money by starting out with contract brewing. Our long term goal is to have our own space in Tsawwassen, BC, but the lovely people at Fuggles Beer (based out of Richmond) are kindly letting us share their space at the moment.

Which brings me to another important detail: we’ve moved! Fuggles Beer kindly welcomed us into their space just before the end of April! We’ll be brewing entirely from within their base of operations for the foreseeable future.

Subsequently. it’s also important to note that we will be changing our current model of selling all our beer as four packs, to selling only singles. We’ve found that people are generally inclined to prefer trying new beers when they only have to buy one instead of buying four of the same item at once. We wish to give as many individuals as possible the opportunity to try our glorious beer at their leisure.

It is also my utmost pleasure to announce the release of some new and rather eye-catching merchandise. We have some rather lovely corduroy hats with my likeness upon them, and a new t-shirt in some rather whimsical colours, that depict me on the back. As always, I look particularly stunning, and the care with which these pieces of merchandise have been created is immaculate.

The hats feature a full-coloured patch on the front, and the Curious Creatures word-mark embroidered in white on the left-hand side. The hats also include a simple size adjustable leather closure with a small metal clasp.

The shirts are made of 100% cotton, and all artwork has been screen printed onto them. Every item feels wonderful and is held to the highest of standards.

I hope my lovely merchandise is enticing to all who see it, and perhaps a few of you may make a purchase or two from my online store.

It’s been quite a busy time for us, and we are all happy to be home from our business abroad. We have quite the collection of markets and festivals coming in as Summer slowly rolls its way to us, so we hope to see your friendly faces at these events. Look out for more new releases from us, as there should be many in the coming months!
