April 2024

Letter from our beloved travelling salesman on Curious Creatures Beer Corp and our upcoming adventures.

By my own account, the last few months have been bustling! Ever since we launched my brand there has been a continuous stream of items and events to undertake. My masterful brewer, Sebastian, has been busy producing the finest of concoctions for public consumption. A West Coast Pilsner and a Mexican Dark Lager will fill in the lager side of things, while a Hazy Double IPA and other IPAs showcasing experimental hop varieties will fill out the hoppy side.

I am certain that all shall adore them as much as I do once they are released.

And, of course, at this point it seems inevitable that we will produce another batch of Parade of the Western Winds, as it has proven quite popular with everyone!

On top of beer production, we’ve also had another goal: finding a new home for Curious Creatures. Uncertainty surrounding our future at Boardwalk Brewing and an ultimate desire to be closer to our future goal (a location in Tsawwassen) has facilitated that move. I was sure to find the best possible host for our growing company, and I look forward to announcing just who that is to you all shortly, so keep an eye out for more of my letters!

Of course, sales is a difficult task to undertake alone. So, Sean has been indispensable to my team. My frog legs are unfortunately rather short, but his longer ones make it possible for him to cover large swathes of territory at a speed which I am simply not able to achieve.

He’s also been hard at work discussing and developing details for new merchandise. Many little revisions have gone back and forth, making sure that all incumbent projects are of the finest quality. Tragically, none of the merch is made to fit my size (amphibian discrimination at its finest). But, when I tell you this merch is all Alfred-approved, I do mean that quite genuinely! I sell only the finest of wares, and my own personal brand shall be no exception.

My art department has been working diligently to make sure all my products appear in their finest forms. It all looks spectacular, if I do say so myself. Tatiana has become particularly good at capturing my likeness on all our packaging. Our designer, Brigitta, consistently spends her time keeping our packaging legible, which becomes exceedingly challenging as the names of our beers grow longer (many apologies my dear).

Tatiana has also been taking photographs for our newest release, Missile and the Big Lime. She has shown me these images, but I don’t particularly grasp what this “social media” that she speaks of is, nor what the purpose of these photographs are. I’m not completely certain how Missile ended up on a beer label for my company (he’s a complete nuisance), but my team insists he’s quite well suited to the labels. Something about how our beers need to look “fun”.

Brigitta spends most of her time at the moment filing taxes, the poor sod. Back in my day we just threw a penny, a bent out of shape paper clip, and three acorns at a pigeon as payment to our bird overlords. She says that this “isn’t how taxes work,” but surely times can’t have changed that much.

Altogether things here at Curious Creatures are well. Big changes and good things to come. We’re all off to the Craft Brewers Conference in Las Vegas towards the end of April, and we hope to see many of you there.

Look out for my next letter, and most importantly, stay curious,

Alfred
