New Year: 2025
Ah yes, the new year is upon us, and with the new year I reflect upon the wondrous things I have done in the past twelve months.
My team has been busy listening to my careful and well thought out instructions, and as such I have managed to do quite a few glorious deeds.
(Brigitta has informed me that I should not refer to the actions I have taken this year with “I”, for they have all been executed by team effort, but truthfully nothing would be possible without the glory of my patronage. Nonetheless to keep the peace amongst my employees I shall henceforth refer to them as the actions “we” have taken.)
We have been quite busy with the undertakings of our company. From the creation of new beers to the numerous events we attended in 2024, encapsulating all of our illustrious activities is quite difficult, though I shall attempt to do so.
One of the first notable things we did was attend the Craft Brewers conference in Las Vegas last April. Being able to speak to other beer folk in the industry, travel the decidedly un-moist desert of the gambling city, and eat a never-ending sea of fast food, t’was truly spectacular.
Sebastian spent the year labouring over our marvellous beverages, leading to us releasing 10 unique beers— my favourite of which was Kome Forest. My artist Tatiana did capture the likeness of my dear friend Migu quite well on that label; I look fondly back upon the time I spent with her in the rainy southernmost woods of Pinhaven.
The gravest of offences in regards to our beers was anything with Missile on the label. How that cretin has crept his way into my company is confounding. It is also unbelievable how much people enjoy his libations. I suppose it is a compliment to my brewer, making such a deplorable fellow like Missile seem agreeable.
Sean spent the year hopping from event to event. He was a marvelous working lad, following my lead, selling my beer. He spent most of his summer at farmers markets in Vancouver with our compatriot Tatiana. The two of them had a joyous time bringing Curious Creatures fine beverages to the people of the city. Being able to see and confer with the wise folks who were buying our beer was most excellent. Many of our patrons were confused by me, the company's beer overlord, an anthropomorphic frog with a sales deadline, but Sean and Tatiana worked hard to bring our customers around to the notion of frog supremacy.
Along with the farmers markets, our summer was filled to the brim with event after event. We attended many different beer festivals across the lower mainland, and were overjoyed to make the acquaintance of so many people who loved our beer. It was wonderful to converse with individuals who had no idea who we were, and people who were ecstatic to be seeing Curious Creatures amongst the vendors at their favourite beer festival.
We released collaborative beers, worked with Kwantlen Polytechnic University for their tenth anniversary, designed and sold out of so much merchandise with my glorious face on it, and only grew in the minds of the public zeitgeist.
Brigitta and Tatiana designed beer label after beer label, rapidly learning as they went on what they would have to change for the future and what they excelled in.
The year has ultimately been turbulent (as is any year running a small business), but if you’ll forgive the sappiness of a middle-aged amphibian with a top hat, all of our success is due to you: the countless people who supported us. From friends and family taking pity on 4/5 of this company's inability to drive by helping ferry us from place-to-place, to the people who went out of their way to buy our beers and merchandise, we are oh so grateful. We remain in awe of the profound manner with which strangers care for the endeavour we are undertaking. Thank you.
Going forward, it is full steam ahead into the new year. A new beer will be released sometime in the next month, and we have more incredibly exciting news to come, from new merchandise to perhaps some other secret things. We ask that you keep your eyes peeled on our various pages for all that is to come.
